Güvercinkayası, the pioneer of the castle city model in Anatolia, sheds light on the history of Anatolia with its 7 thousand-year history on the shore of Melendiz near Çatalsu Village. Today, the settlement, which is located on a high rock mass inside the Lake of Mamasın, dates back to 5200-4750 BC. The settlement also dominates the old migration routes. The archaeological excavations in Güvercinkayası started in 1996. The Department of Archeology, Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University Faculty of Literature, Department of Prehistory retired.
